PA Senate may cut Domestic Violence funding!
Dear Friends,
WE NEED YOUR HELP to ensure domestic violence funding provisions stay in the final state budget.
Take action now!
Please call your State Senators and urge them to keep funding for domestic violence services in House Bill 1861! (Find their contact information at http://www.legis.state.pa.us/. Search by county/zip code in the top right corner, where it says "Find Members By.")
The Senate is considering cutting this important funding for Domestic Violence services from the state’s final budget.
House Bill 1861 allocates a portion of marriage and divorce fees to domestic violence services throughout Pennsylvania. This bill would provide much needed fiscal relief for Women Against Abuse and domestic violence services across the state.
State funding for domestic violence is even more critical in these difficult economic times. This year alone, Women Against Abuse has turned away 2,552 women and children from shelter, due to our emergency shelter being at full capacity. We need our representatives to keep the marriage and divorce fees for domestic violence services in House Bill 1861.
Please call today.
